Coming into this season I wrote about how I believed the Pacific was getting extremely disrespected for the potential that existed…It became fashionable to call the division the worst division but I believed the potential was there for this division to be something else entirely…
Right now, this division is 100% not the worst, and may be showing signs of something else entirely. Now as we sit roughly 10 games in, there are actual reasons to believe the Pacific is the BEST in the Western Conference…maybe the entire NHL.
Why?
Start with Edmonton. They are no longer just McDavid and Draisatl they have added the kind of depth Championship teams add. Now McD and LD are able to thrive at their games EVEN more. Which makes them the scariest team to try and defend.
Calgary has the best Goalie and all kinds of scorers.. Suter has them playing playoff hockey already as well. The Flames are a total force.
Vancouver is coming… The Canucks are silly with talent and Quinn Hughes is outplaying Makar early on on Elias Pettersson is starting to look like the phenom he was pre-pandemic.
Don’t forget Vegas They haven’t been looking very good, but when they get healthy and Eichel they will immediately look once again like the Cup Favorite…No Question.
Anaheim is WAY AHEAD of Schedule These Ducks are the surprise on the NHL…They aren’t any easy out EVER.
These five teams are as good, if not better than any other division’s top five teams…
