What’s going on in Vancouver?
There is no doubt the rumors out there about Vancouver doing some searches for possible new head coaches are true…And yet, Bruce Boudreau is STILL Head Coach of the Canucks…
Opinions on this are split…and I really want tor hear where you stand on this one in the comments.
Some are saying this is disrespectful to Boudreau, who is one of the most beloved coaches in all of hockey…
Others are saying, this is just standard operating procedure, and companies of all kinds often look for replacements prior to firing a key figure..
Which do you think?
There is a possible third option…
Boudreau is under contract for a very long time with the Canucks. It is possible he is going to be moved to a VP spot and he is aware that a coaching change is needed….Of course, no one would ever admit to a back room plan, in case no new coaches came be found…and also to not let the players slide…
The Canucks ownership is unique for sure, but also is among one of the teams that most sees itself ALWAYS as a possible playoff team…even when the odds are leaning the other way…
Some fans want them to tank and hope for their native son Connor Bedard to stay in BC.
They wont do that. And they really shouldn’t.
They have plenty of talent, including one of the best young forwards in the game (Pettersson), one of the best young defenseman in the game (Hughes), and when healthy… one of the best young goalies in the game.
They need a culture change for sure…Boudreau could be that change…OR trading Horvat and Boeser for some seriously strong returns could be tried first…
In my opinion they are that far away from actually being a contender.
