Just got off the phone with a source who is currently very high up in management with another Canadian team and he has heard that Mike Babcock isn't nearly as safe in his coaching position as the Leafs and their media would have us believe...
This source said the talking points are that Babcock has through these coming playoffs to show he can lead the Leafs deep, but the source I spoke to believes that deadline is more like January 1.
There are simply too many guys with expiring contracts and vast unknowns...."If the Leafs are not in a secure playoff spot by January 1 all bets are off....but they never want to say this of course....but I hear some key players there are aware this is getting serious."
