As May is nearing and Corona virus keeps on spreading the IIHF World Championships are under a question mark.
In Switzerland there are country wide restrictions on public events to avoid a further spread of the virus.
Vice President of the IIHF to ''Ilta-Sanomat'':
''The World Championships will have to be canceled if Swiss government will keep the restrictions intact after the mid-point of March. Obviously it's not the best thing to happen but IIHF can't do much about it. Health and public safety is the priority. It's also impossible to move the event to a different country because there is just not enough time. We don't have a plan for these kinds of situations. The final decision will be made until March 17th.''
Hockeybuzz has been made aware of another solution - IIHF would consider lowering the number of teams participating in the event if that meant that a green light to play games would be given.
