The Carolina Hurricanes clinched top spot in the Central Division last night, as a result of the Tampa Bay Lightning falling 5-2 to the Dallas Stars.

Securing top spot in the division was key for Carolina, as it means they’ll have a more favourable matchup than facing either the Lightning or Panthers in the first round. There’s currently a 15-point gap between the Lightning/Panthers and the Nashville Predators.

In other news, the Hurricanes placed forward Max McCormick on waivers yesterday and he cleared today. McCormick has played 10 games with the Hurricanes this season, scoring two goals.
