The NHL rumors season this time of year is kind of like a train. It starts off lots of short little stops. Kind of frustrating. But then right about now, a few weeks before the draft, it’s a runaway train all the sudden.
After a rare weekend off, celebrating my son’s graduation with family, I hopped on that train this morning…and it is already insane…
I updated EVERY player on the chart, and here are some highlights..
On Carter Hart… Over the years many people have written People were quick to move Carter as soon as the flyers moved Provorov. Not so fast honestly. Flyers are not shopping Carter Hart, but they are listening. They’re listening on anyone. And this week something could happened here…It will take a lot. Seattle and Edmonton are the two teams that I’ve heard mention the most. I’ve also heard Toronto but I don’t put too much stock in that at this point. They do need to upgrade their goaltending probably, but Hart would cost too much.
On Travis Konecny… Over the years many people have written about Travis Konecny getting moved. I haven’t been one of those people and I really didn’t see any kind of appetite to move TK. Things are changing fast however. He definitely has a lot of value. I’m told Columbus really likes him. But also keep your eyes out for Florida and Nashville. One source believes Ottawa is the definite place…
On Blake Wheeler… Winnipeg could do a lot this summer and definitely has shown that they need a new face. Nothing good happens in the playoffs or really the season for this team. Wheeler could be moved… Chicago and New Jersey are teams you really have to look at. Chicago is jumping from rebuild to retool fast now that they have a Connor Bedard in the wings… They are going to use him to jumpstart this and also attract people to play with him. Chicago is going to be aggressive some say maybe too aggressive…
On Huberdeau… I wrote about this previously but I keep hearing more and more that his no movement clause kicks in July 1. I know there’s serious interest from Arizona who is looking to do something like this to gain some respect ability. Calgary has their eye a few players including Ryan O’Reilly. Montreal also has interest in Huberdeau….and Brunette in Nashville is obviously very familiar with Jonathan from Florida…
