Happy 30th, Old Friend! (FLA)

Hard to believe that this upcoming season marks 30 years that the Florida Panthers have been in the NHL.

Time flies!

As part of the celebration, the Cats will be doing various special things throughout the 2023-24 season to commemorate the occasion.

As such, they kicked things off today by releasing an awesome retrospective video (below) and their new 30th anniversary logo/patch.

Swipe right on the below to see the details they put into the anniversary logo. I like a lot of the subtle touches, particularly the meaning behind the three stripes on the stick.

While I dig the logo, there’s just has one major issue for me…how could you not use the original leaping panther??

I understand the idea is to combine the past with the present, and I’m sure the new leaping cat we’ve seen before (they wore them on their buckets a couple seasons ago) is much easier to print on merchandise, etc., but I just can’t get enough of the original.

Maybe I’m the only one…

The Panthers also revealed that they will be doing theme nights that pay tribute to different decades throughout their history. I really like this idea and think it will be very cool.

Per their website

The Panthers will celebrate thirty years of Panthers hockey with a theme night honoring each decade. On Jan. 11 as the Panthers host the LA Kings, fans can hark back to the birth of the franchise in the 1990's. On March 7 vs. the Philadelphia Flyers, the 2000's will be in the spotlight and on March 28 vs. the New York Islanders, game presentation and in-game themes will highlight the 2010s into the current era. Stay tuned for more information on these decade nights.…

Really looking forward to that 1990’s night against the Kings! The 2000’s will be sweet, too, though there’s plenty of dark years to navigate in that time…haha.

So what do you guys think of the logo? Where will they put it on their sweaters? _____________________
