Coach LaLonde has made no secret that Larkin and Debrincat are tied together and were since the acquisition was made. We’ve seen throughout camp, preseason and the first game Rasmussen, Perron, and Raymond talked about and implemented. There are multiple issues at play and you are all good about laying down your thoughts.
Full disclosure, I’ve never played pro sports. The level of commitment to get to and stay in the NHL is impressive. There’s an ongoing debate of chemistry as opposed to simply putting pros whose skill set complement each other. Chemistry does seem to play a part, and getting “used to… teammates is something that’s talked about by players, coaches and GMs. In that light a rotating door may not be ideal.
For the past several years, there’s been a formula using 10 game increments to track a team’s development. 6 wins or the point equivalent of 12 or 13 points every 10 games should get your team to the post season bubble. The first 10 for Detroit have a strange twist of an overseas trip and a stable of new faces. The question being poised is, who should fill the left side of the top line? There are players looking for new teams, or is there an internal option that should be the constant? How many games do you think it will take to understand the build of this team?
Finally, some of you have this in mind already. Who would you go out and get or call up if you were in the driver’s seat? It’s early in the season but players are starting to let it “leak… that they want a new situation. Is there anything appetizing that would move the needle for you as a fan and the team as a whole?
