Game of the Week: Cats vs Canes

This will be a quick one because what more can you say about tonight’s tilt? Two of the league’s best teams face off when the Hurricanes come to Sunrise where the last two teams without a regulation loss will clash.

The Canes are undefeated for a reason. These guys have a potent offensive, solid defense and strong goaltending. The Bod certainly has the fellas coached up well and they run a smooth system where scoring can come from anywhere on the ice.

The Cats are off to their best record in franchise history and sit second in the NHL averaging 4.10 goals per game. Barky has contributed to this stat with five goals in the last three games - good enough to tie franchise record holder Olli Joninen at 188 goals. The Panthers’ offensive firepower has seen them score four or more goals in eight of the ten games they’ve played so far. They’ll need this trend to confuse tonight against a tough Carolina opponent.

As of yesterday it sounds like Thornton, Bennett and Bob (Gibson recalled from the Checkers) are day-to-day. Gudas will be evaluated after practicing yesterday to see if he’ll be in the lineup tonight.

This really is a great measuring stick for Florida to see where they actually stand with the league’s top dogs.
