The Anaheim Ducks laid the smackdown for the second straight game, defeating the Flyers in Philadelphia 6-2 for their second win in a row. Anaheim has now scored six goals in consecutive games, the fourth time in franchise history.
The first period initially swung things in favor of the Flyers when Sean Couturier scored the opening goal midway through the period. However, the Ducks made sure to make even before the teams went into their respective locker rooms for the first intermission. Ondrej Kase scored his second goal of the season to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.
The second period was all Anaheim. The Ducks received three consecutive goals from Brandon Montour, Nick Ritchie, and Rickard Rakell. Both Montour's and Rakell's goal put their season totals at three goals while Ritchie's was his first goal of the season.
The Ducks got another goal just under four minutes into the third and final period from Ryan Getzlaf, making the score 5-1. It was Getzlaf's first goal of the season in his return to the ice after being sidelined for several games due to injury. Couturier would give the Flyers another goal but it would simply be too little too late. Kase then put a little icing on the cake scoring his second goal of the night, giving the Ducks a 6-2 victory on the road.
John Gibson had another solid night in net, stopping 31 of 33 shots.
Last night's win over Philadelphia gives the Ducks a 4-3-1 record through eight games. They will look to keep this streak of victories going on Thursday night when they take on the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center.
