Sources tell me that while the Islanders and Tavares are indeed "back rooming" talks there is still a wide belief out there that a Tavares signing could be linked to a sign and trade...although such things are very complicated to say the least...As I have noted previously, the Islanders won't and CAN'T just allow Tavares to step away for nothing as a UFA. So he will be signing with the Islanders if at all possible...It benefits Tavares as well, because he can procure the 8th year...
