We had another bad beat with Ottawa winning in Carolina, couple that with the Canes rested the night before, the worst team in the league beat one of the best teams in the NHL! Carolina had 49 SOG, while Ottawa had 20 SOG, yet the Senators won all because of a hot goalie. Lately, road teams have been coming up big which is something to keep an eye on after home teams had dominated the first quarter of the season. Going into the weekend keep an eye on the many players that are going into the covid protocol and how it affects teams. As well, watch for the starting goalies as lately teams have been playing their backup goalies. Only a 5 game card tonight, the game analysis is below for tonight's games.
**Reimer/Shesterkin confirmed goalies** The Sharks are playing their 4th in 6 nights on the road after winning the first 3 of this road trip. The NY Rangers were sitting rested last night while SJ won in OT in NYI. NYR have only played once this week and have won 8 of their last 9 games. This is a great spot for the Rangers, NYR -180 BIG! I don't care about the steep juice price, the Rangers should pull away as the game goes on. As well, 26 of 42 game combined between these 2 teams have gone under the total this season.
**Bernier/Hellebuyck confirmed goalies** The Jets sat rested last night while NJ played in Minnesota and got dominated. Winnipeg has been off since Monday night when they lost at home to the Coyotes! The Jets need this win badly and it sets up nicely for them, plus I don't care that the juice is steep again. Winnipeg -175 BIG!
**Brossoit/Vejmelka confirmed goalies** Vegas has lost 3 of their last 4 and they really need this win tonight in AZ. I would think the Knights play their backup goalie though, so you never know how that could go. Knights -225 is steep for a road team but I do like the under here as AZ goes under the total a lot at home as they struggle to score goals. Lean to the under, pass on the side for me.
The Flames played last night in LA, while Anaheim was resting at home. Calgary has Vegas on deck, so I always worry about a team looking ahead. Calgary is great on the road and the Ducks are terrific at home, so I expect a tight game and that's why Calgary is only -133 while the Ducks are a small dog at +114. Lean to Anaheim here and the under. Watch for the starting goaltenders in this one too as Markstrom has started 4 straight for the Flames and I think they will want him rested for the Vegas game.
**Skinner/Grubauer confirmed goalies** This Oilers game could be a trap game, especially when you look at the line released by Vegas. Edmonton -130 and Seattle +115 are where the line stands now. Seattle plays their best hockey at home(wins over Minny, Washington, and Carolina at home), while Edmonton hasn't been nearly as good on the road. Add to the fact that the Oilers are still missing 4 of their 6 starters on the blueline and they had a 3 game roadie, then home for the Pittsburgh game, then back on the road to Seattle. Prime letdown spot for the Oilers after big wins over Vegas and Pitt. Seattle is off a 4 game eastern road trip in which they went 2-2 and are playing much better hockey. Small lean to Seattle here and keep in mind both teams have gone over the total in 28 of 42 games combined this season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The following numbers from last night were requested by all the Draft Kings reader's here, so I hope all of you that read the column daily can use them to your advantage - Total goals last night - 56 (Home - 28/Road - 28) Total PP goals last night - 9 Total SH goals last night - 1 Favs were 7-3 last night. The last seven days favs have gone 48-22! **Another prop to try is empty-net goals, you would be surprised how many are scored each night as coaches tend to pull the goalie earlier than if down 1 or 2 goals.
