Phase 3 of the NHL's return-to-play protocol gets underway on Monday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. Here are some basic facts ahead of the initial practice.
* There will Group A and Group B sessions. Group A goes on at 10:30 AM ET. It is not known yet if both rinks at the Skate Zone during the day.
* The Flyers playoff roster -- which the NHL has set at a 30-skater limit with unlimited goalies -- should be released around 9 AM.
* By NHL rule, all practice sessions are closed to the public throughout Phase 3 (just as all games in Toronto and Edmonton during Phase 4 will be in empty arenas).
* Each day, by NHL/NHLPA directive, there will be four players made available to the media. Alain Vigneault will also be available daily. Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher will be available to media at least on Day 1.The interviews will be conducted remotely via a meeting app over the course of the day.
* A very limited number of media members -- basically limited to the 8 who cover the team daily for the newspapers, NBC Sports Philadelphia, AP, NHL.com and the Flyers official website -- will be admitted each day during Phase 3. However, the team will supply daily video footage and audio from the daily interviews to a wider circle of media outlets.
* NHL players have until 5 p.m. ET on Monday to opt out of Phases 3 and 4, without penalty.
I will post updates on social media tomorrow, a Day 1 report on the Flyers official site and an evening wrapup on HockeyBuzz tomorrow to tie up any loose ends from the day.
