Flyers Gameday: 2/6/17 vs. STL (Flyers)

UPDATE 11:45 AM

Travis Konecny is back in the Philadelphia lineup. Matt Read will be a healthy scratch. Shayne Gostisbehere remains a healthy scratch on defense for a third straight game.

PREVIEW: FLYERS VS. BLUES

Dave Hakstol's Philadelphia Flyers (26-20-7) play host to new head coach Mike Yeo's St. Louis Blues (25-22-5) on Monday evening. Game time at the Wells Fargo Center is 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised locally on CSN Philadelphia.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the inter-conference teams. On Dec. 28, the visiting Flyers were doubled up, 6-3, in St. Louis. A hat trick by Robby Fabbri led the way for the Blues.

Flyers Outlook

The Flyers have a 16-7-4 home record this season. After being embarrassed in an abysmal 5-1 loss in Carolina on Tuesday, the Flyer returned home to hold the Montreal Canadiens to just 16 shots -- season lows for both teams -- in a 3-1 victory. On Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings, the Flyers generated just 17 shots of their own but Michal Neuvirth stole a point in a 0-0 regulation tie before ex-Flyer Jeff Carter won the game in OT for the Kings.

The Flyers are likely to use the same lineup as they did in the game against Montreal. If so, both Shayne Gostisbehere and Travis Konency will be healthy scratches for the third straight game. Veteran defenseman Michael Del Zotto remains day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Entering play on Monday, the Flyers continue to tenuously hold the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They are one point ahead of the Boston Bruins (who are in automatic playoff position as the third-place team in the Atlantic Division), with two games in hand. Philly is two points ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs, but have played three more games. The Florida Panthers, three points off the pace, hold one game in hand on Philly. The Carolina Hurricanes are four points back with two games in hand and the New York Islanders are five points behind with three games in hand.

Blues Outlook

The Blues' swoon in January dropped the team at least temporarily out of playoff position and cost lame duck head coach Ken Hitchcock his job a few months ahead of his planned departure at the end of the season. The team, which brings a road record of 8-13-1 in Monday's game, is starting a five-game road trip.

This tilt is the start of a back-to-back set and three-in-four gauntlet that will see the Blues visit the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday and Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. The Blues have lost five of their last seven games overall.

On Saturday, the Blues suffered a 4-1 home loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The team also lost Fabbri for the season with a torn ACL. A mid-third period goal by Patrik Berglund broke up Marc-Andre Fleury's shutout bid but was otherwise insignificant to the outcome.

With the loss of Fabbri, the Blues have recalled AHL leading scorer Kenny Agostino along with veteran forward Magnus Pà¤à¤jà¤rvi.
