You know the NHL season is around the corner when it is Mr. Lemieux’s birthday. This year the start is slightly delayed compared to other years as the Penguins and Lightning play a week from today.
Sidney Crosby might not be ready for the season opener, but he’s been in the news in a good way the past few days. Hockey Canada released the news that Crosby will be on their Olympic roster along with Connor McDavid and Alex Pietrangelo in an early announcement.

It isn’t a surprise to see Crosby and McDavid here. This will be the first time these generational megastars will join forces on the same team. I hope they get a few shifts together whether on the power play or at even-strength. Hell, watching both of them on the PK would be something else.
Crosby was also named the best player 30 and above by The Athletic

Crosby beat out his Canadian linemates Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.
Evgeni Malkin came in 27th and Kris Letang at 18th. The top five were Sidney Crosby, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, Victor Hedman, and former Penguin Marc-Andre Fleury.
The Penguins will take on the Sabres, who got dialed up 5-1 by the Blue Jackets last night, for their second matchup of the preseason. Here is the lineup.
