Ducks welcome Washington to town (Ducks)

The Anaheim Ducks (33-21-12) play hoist to the Metro-leading Washington Capitals (37-21-7) tonight in the final game of their current four-game home stand.

It's always a fun night at the Honda Center, but its always extra exciting when a player of Alex Ovechkin comes to town. "Alex the great" leads the NHL with 40 goals. Ovechkin is just the 6th player in league history to record nine seasons with 40 or more goals and he's been white hot of late with six goals in his last seven games.

The Ducks D has to be on top on its game if they want to shut down Ovechkin and that potent Capitals offense.

The Ducks are on a bit of roll offensively themselves. They are 2-0-1 in the last three at Honda Center with 15 goals and goes beyond that. Anaheim has points in their last eight home games.

What to watch for:

- Anaheim has two very tough road games coming up in Nashville and Dallas. They need to get the two point tonight. Every point is at a premium and they cannot afford to go more than a game without at least a point.

- Ryan Getzlaf is ageless. The captain has 45 points (9g 36a) in 41 games and he too has been excellent at home. Getzy has 22 points (4g 18a) in 16 home games this season and SEVEN points (1g 6a) in his last two games. #unreal

- Corey Perry is not the fastest skater on the ice and he's getting slower as he gets older, but he loo more like his old self lately. Pears has five points in the last three games with two big goals vs. Chicago on Sunday. When he and Getzlaf are on this team is virtually unbeatable.

- If the Ducks win tonight they could wake up in sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division. That notion was a mere pipe dream in December, yet here we are.

Enjoy the game,
