The Anaheim Ducks parted ways with former first-round pick Jacob Perreault today, sending the forward to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Jan Mysak.

Mysak was selected 48th overall in the same draft as Perreault, and is in the midst of his second AHL season. This year, the 21-year-old scored 13 goals and 20 points in 48 games with the Laval Rocket.
Overall, it’s a fairly minor deal, but Perreault was unlikely really make an impact with the Ducks at this stage, and a swap to give young players a change of scenery can probably never hurt. It’s too bad Perreault didn’t end up working out after a little bit of hype at the time Anaheim selected him, but Mysak should get a good chance with the Gulls in his place.
