The Detroit Red Wings have won two successive games for the sixth time this season, after a 3-1 home-ice win Friday over the Toronto Maple Leafs and a 6-3 decision Tuesday in New York over the Islanders. The Wings will look to win three in a row for the first time since Jan. 14-18 of last season. The Wings beat Pittsburgh 6-3 on Jan. 14, followed up with a 1-0 shutout of Montreal on Jan. 16 and then edged Boston 6-5 in a shootout on Jan. 18. All three games were played at Joe Louis Arena. If winning three in succession wasn’t a tall enough order, the Wings will be asked to do so in Philadelphia, which has proven to be a city completely lacking in brotherly love for them. Detroit is 1-11-1 in its last 13 at Philly, but on a positive note, the Wings are 1-0-1 in their last two games there. “Us from Detroit know our history there,… Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg said. “We know we’re in one (tonight), but if we play the way we did in the third period (Tuesday), we have a chance.… The Wings will also be seeking to win in the second game of back to back games. But on another positive note, they are 2-0-1 in that scenario this season. “We’ve had teams come into our building where we were rested and they’d played the night before, and we didn’t take advantage of it,… Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. “I do think the team that’s come in from the night before and played the night before has an advantage the first period, so let’s go have a great first period.… Lightened Wallet Detroit left-winger Justin Abdelkader is $5,000 poorer today, the fine he was assessed for spearing Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield during Tuesday’s game.
