Devils Capitalize On Opportunities (Devils)

New Jersey Devils beat the Washington Capitals yesterday afternoon by the score of 4-3 in overtime. The Devils end their winless regular season streak against the Capitals and get their first win since February 22, 2020.

This game immediately had some adversity and challenges for the young Devils squad as all-star defenseman Dougie Hamilton had leave in the first period after taking a puck to his face. The Devils had to heavily rely on their defenseman as Damon Severson (29:52 TOI) Jonas Siegenthaler (25:24 TOI) and Ryan Graves (24:15 TOI) had to play big minutes.

Yesterday, we also saw the emergence of Devils captain Nico Hischier and his gritty performance throughout that led to the game winning goal. Hischier has been a beast since coming off the extended Christmas break with 3 goals, 1 assist.

“If you look at our games last year against them or even the game earlier in the season this year, we wanted to come out and beat them (Capitals) and I think you could see that from the beginning. And, yeah, it feels good we finally got them,… said Hischier.

Yes it feels good.

The Devils are only three points out of a playoff spot and will play the Boston Bruins tomorrow in Boston.

How do you like Allain Nasreddine now?
