There was plenty of red in the stands to take this one in and the fans got their money’s worth tonight. It was good to see Kane knock in the lone shootout tally after having been shelved with injury until recently. Talbot didn’t have a .971 night, but the team stepped up for the win, and now sit 15-4-1 since the return from the break.
Seider and Berggren both had goals where they were able to get the goalie out of position skating the puck laterally after a faceoff win. Raymond’s goal saw some more quick work by Kasper on the boards and the quick rip from Larkin he seems to find in the faceoff dot area. Soderblom’s back hand was a skate to stick off of a rebound that belies the 6’8… frame it came from. Nice shot for the big guy.
As the wins pile up, so does the confidence. It feels like Elmer should stay put with the big club. It’s been nice to see the younger players step up more and grab a place. Let me know your thoughts, and hopefully the coffee is strong for anyone who stayed up that has to commute in the morning.
1st Period goals:
Raymond continues to rack up points and opens the scoring at 3:36. Originally credited to Larkin, Raymond was taken down and the puck went around the end boards over to Kasper. Kasper got the puck to Larkin with a quick pass and Larkin snapped it from the left faceoff dot finding Raymond’s stick blade. 1-0 DET
