The Arizona Coyotes and John Chayka have parted ways.
Yesterday amid reports that he had cleaned out his office and was not taking calls, it appeared that he had been fired.
But now a completely nuts PR statement from the team has been released and it turns out that John Chayka quit, and the team is not happy.
In a statement announcing that John Chayka quit as general manager and president of hockey operations, the #coyotes say they are "disappointed in his actions and his timing." pic.twitter.com/Pi7Aj5x27x

Say what you want about the situation, but the NHL is the most boring sanitized league in existence and for a team to release such a statement is as weird and unusual as it is awesome.
Of course, the worst NHL fans will use this as a referendum on analytics in hockey despite the fact that that debate has been over for five years and only exists in the heads of the unbelievers.
Personally, I really like the guy and do not relish the job going to some recently retired ex-player, but Steve Sullivan will be the team's new GM.
Anyways, I was busy when this went down and I'm going back to my porch and I'll save the analysis for tomorrow.
Crazy times to be a Coyotes fan.
