Capitals Win, Vegas......does not (Ovechkin)

Oh man, I can see it right now: the biggest cliche in the hockey world is COMING STRAIGHT FOR US!

The last win is toughest.

The fourth win is the hardest to get.

You have to play every game.

Closing it out is easier than winning the first three.

You know how it goes.

Not to say there's no truth in that. The Capitals are composed of about 20 guys who are on the verge of living out (what we assume is) their life long dream of winning the Stanley Cup. Those guys are close, but they're also human, so its inevitable that there is some psychological baggage bound to screw them up. Or also, it's a game and the bets team doesn't always win, and they have three chances not to blow it.

I get confused.

The Capitals proved last night that......well they didn't really prove anything. They should have been down 3-0 and then they scored three straight goals.

That's hockey for ya! (sound effect).

Really, I can't say enough about.... how much I hate it when people start a sentence by saying they can't say enough about something. But, I just want to establish that I really mean this: these games have been great to watch.

As if there weren't enough great story lines, the Capitals Evgeni Kuznetsov returned from injury to score the winning goal in game three and four points in game four.

He'd for sure win the Conn Smythe Trophy if Ovechkin weren't about to un-Dan Marino himself.

"Ace do you have any more of that gum?"

"That's none of your damn business, and I'll thank you to stay out of my personal affairs."

Ovechkin!

(Read in the voice of Ray Finkle's Mom): What a character!

Despite Ovechkin, who must be shown cheering after every play, because he really really wants this, did not score, but he looked good doing it.

It is now mandatory that I work in the words "choke-hold" and "commanding" in order to describe the Capitals current status.

You've now been recapped.

I hope you enjoyed the game and possibly the next three. When someone says "who could have predicted Marc Andre Fleury struggling so much in the final," remember that I did.

Old Big Jim will never let you down.

The only question is should I go back to work after lunch, or play hooky and go home and watch DMX, Tom Arnold and Steven Seagal in the classic Exit Wounds?

Thanks for reading.
