Capitals Earn Break w/ Three Game Winning Streak (Maple Leafs)

The Washington Capitals won their third game in a row Saturday night when they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs on the back of an Ovechkin hattrick and another strong game from Braden Holtby.

Holtby now sits at an impressive 13-5/ 2.59 / .921 He's not putting up the best numbers in the league, but when you account for how bad the team in front of him has been, you can make a case that he's currently a viable Vezina and Hart candidate.

The Capitals are the 9th worst possession team, and have allowed the third-most scoring chances against. Yet somehow they are ranked 8th in the NHL in regulation wins. That's mostly because of Holtby.

In other news, the Washington Post has a fascinating investigation into Ovechkin's Putin support, and if you have the time, I highly recommend reading it. The Trump/Putin/ investigation currently going on obviously makes this a political issue, but it shouldn't be. Link to Post article here

I don't know, its obviously a strange and weird time.

The Capitals are off until Thursday.
