The Pittsburgh Penguins have won two Stanley Cups in a row. That has been the limit that teams have been able to achieve since the great New York Islanders dynasty of the 1980’s won four consecutive Cups.
Edmonton won five Championships in seven years, but were interrupted by the Canadiens in 1986 and Calgary in 1989. Mario’s Pens won two in a row but were upset by the Isles in 1993 and never got back to a Final. The Red Wings won consecutive Cups in 1997 and 1998, but could not put together a third successful run.
Do the Pens have a chance to win three in a row with Marc-Andre Fleury and Nick Bonino gone and after two long playoff runs?
