There were murmurs of other coach firings last night as well. This is a surprise move and brings to an end the Chiarelli era Bruins.. When talking to people in Boston the room was split on Julien, with half saying he needed to go, and half saying he was the best thing they had going...
The Bruins buried the lead by timing this to coincide with the Patriots parade and their bye week...
Assistant coach Bruce Cassidy will take over on an interim basis...
Some believe Julien's availability, along with Hitchcock and Gallant, could prompt other NHL teams to make a coaching change sooner than later...It is almost unheard of that three coaches of this caliber are available mid-season.
This could really change the dynamic of the rest of the season...If, and that may be a big If, Julien wants to coach more this year there are teams who will take him in a heartbeat.
