Bowey Will Sit At Least One More Game (Red Wings)

Madison Bowey will get at least one more chance to watch before he officially is given the opportunity to participate in game action as a Detroit Red Wing. Wings coach Jeff Blashill confirmed prior to Sunday’s game against the San Jose Sharks at Little Caesars Arena that Bowey, the defenseman acquired from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Nick Jensen on Friday, would again be a healthy scratch. “Bowey will not play,… Blashill told Detroitredwings.com. “We’ll make that decision Monday but he’s not playing today.… After winning a Stanley Cup with the Capitals last season, Bowey admitted that parting ways with Washington was sweet sorrow. “A lot of mixed emotions,,… Bowey acknowledged. “This is the first trade of my career, so it’s definitely sad to leave some of the guys back there in Washington. “It’s a great group of guys. Obviously winning a Stanley Cup, you have a lot of great memories. For me this is a great opportunity to play some games here and figure out my game and find a way in the NHL. I’m excited to get it going.… The earliest that will happen for Bowie would be Tuesday, when the Wings play host to the Montreal Canadiens. “Part of that for sure is trying to put guys in position to be successful,… Blashill said. “(Saturday’s) practice wasn’t a real structural practice — not that Monday’s will be either — but it at least gives us some time to go through some of the systematic stuff. There’ll be some things that are different and it’s hard when you’re a player and you’re doing something totally different than you’ve done but to play with your true instincts. “(There’s) lots going on in his head and let’s give him a few days to watch us play a little bit and get a better feel for how we play.… Vanek Out Filip Zadina still hasn’t made his NHL debut but already he’s lost one of his slated linemates for Sunday’s game. “Thomas Vanek will be out tonight,… Blashill said. “He had a little tweak yesterday that he thought was fine when he left the rink and I found out this morning it wasn’t.… Zadina was slated to supposed to skate alongside Vanek and Luke Glendening. Blashill hoped that Vanek’s veteran savvy and shared experience - like Zadina he was a highly-skilled, highly-touted early first-round pick in his draft year - would aid Zadina’s transition to the NHL. Harri Carried Again The Wings also recalled goaltender Harri Sateri from AHL Grand Rapids for the second time in three days. Blashill indicated that Jimmy Howard was on the road to recovery from the sickness that shelved him for Friday’s game against the Minnesota Wild. “Howie, I think is feeling better,… Blashill said. “I think he’s on the correct side of this and hopefully he’s able to practice tomorrow.… Follow me on Twitter @asktheduffer
