97.1 posted This transcript of Bobby Ryan’s interview. Good read.
Jon Merrill is really excited to be a Red Wing. Said they were the first team that called, and he had promised himself earlier in life that if the chance to play for the Red Wings, he would jump on it. Now, he will. Said it feels like he just made it.

Yzerman is shaping this season’s team as much by who is being developed elsewhere as who will hit the ice for Detroit in 2021. Young players (Seider, Veleno, Berggren) will continue to play overseas while the GM shapes the team and environment into a new culture. This year’s free agent signings and/or trades will give some more insight into what Yzerman wants to see going forward. The wins may not come, but the culture and attitude are in desperate need of revamping. The Captain is just the person for this job.
A goalie, some defense and possibly a center are on many of our lists. Let’s see how it goes!
