Bjorkstrand will join the team in Detroit. It is not yet known why Bjorkstrand has been recalled but the assumption is that one of the forwards is under the weather. The team hasn’t played since Monday and there hasn’t been anything reported about a player being hurt in practice.
Bjorkstrand was sent down after playing just three games for the Blue Jackets this season. He was ineffective in his three games and was getting bumped further and further down the line-up. He has been much better in the AHL, recording eight goals and four assists in 19 games.
Should Bjorkstrand be in the line-up, it’s likely to be just on the fourth line. He has the potential to be a top six player but right now just isn’t there yet, plus with the way the Jackets have been going you wouldn’t want to mess up the chemistry that the lines have. Depending on who may be out, Bjorkstrand might get a chance on the power play but again with the way the power play has been going it’s not something that should messed with.
The Jackets play in Detroit tonight and then return home to the play the Islanders tomorrow. Bjorkstrand also gives them an extra body should something happen in tonight’s game.
