Today Mackenzie Blackwood has been re-signed, the Devils announced.
The RFA inks a 3 year deal worth $8.4M. Not too shabby.
As one of the young goalies in the NHL, it is nice to see the Devils committee to him longer. The 24 year old Blackwood will now work with Crawford as I expect them to be a tandem this season.
I am surprised Blackwood didn't opt for a shorter term deal but once to see him committed. He will also learn a great deal from Crawford.
Next up, Jesper Bratt. This should be hammered out shortly.
In other notes... Breakout Yegor Sharangovich has been recalled from Russia to training camp. He has turned some heads and Devils fans excited to see what he brings to the table and if his play can translate to the North American ice. The 4th leading scorer in the NHL could bring something needed to the Devils - scoring. All of a sudden his name is with the ranks of Foote, Holtz, Koukkonen, Merkley.
Exciting.
