Here are some of the best player additions (rookies excluded) for each team in the Central Division
Chicago - Chris Kunitz
It was him or Marcus Kruger and I think Kunitz is the better player at this point even though he's at the end of his rope and a decade older.
Colorado - Philipp Grubauer
Colorado picked up one of the leading candidates in the NHL to graduate to a full time starting job in the league. Semyon Varlamov is on the last year of his deal and makes a lot of money. This is a nice transition in goal for the Avalanche.
Dallas - Valeri Nichuschkin
He took and NHL vacation and now he's back. He' probably capable of being a 30-40 point player. His 20 year old season he had 29 points in 79 games.
Minnesota - Matt Hendricks
It's been that kind of offseason for Minnesota. Their main additions were Eric Fehr, JT Brown, Greg Pateryn, and Matt Hendricks. Their big offseason moves were retaining the services of Matt Dumba and Jason Zucker.
Nashville Dan Hamhuis
Dan Hamhuis is still an effective bottom pairing defenseman and he is an upgrade over the departing Alex Emelin. Nashville has the best defense group in hockey right now. They were already a contender with their roster and didn't have to chase for help this offseason. Their lone move was a nice depth signing
St. Louis - Ryan O'Reilly
The Blues were very busy this offseason (O'Reilly, Perron, Maroon, Bozak, Johnson) and Ryan O'Reilly will have the biggest impact among the additions. The Blues lost Stastny, but were proactive and received a first round pick for a player who was going to leave. They went out and grabbed O'Reilly for around the same cap hit, but younger and under contract for the remainder of O'Reilly's prime.
Winnipeg - Laurent Brossoit
Winnipeg was a Stanley Cup contending team last year and they have to be smart about the kind of money they hand out in the offseasons with some of their younger stars looking to get paid soon. Brossoit was their only out of organization addition and he is a very cheap backup goalie with only 28 games of NHL action with the Oilers.
