Best player additions: Atlantic Division (Penguins)

Here are some of the best player additions (rookies excluded) for each team in the Central Division Boston - Jaro Halak

He's a more than capable backup goalie to help Tuukka Rask lower his work rate. I found it interesting that there are Bruins fans who don't think highly of Rask. He's been one of the best goalies of the cap era and his performance in the 2012-13 Eastern Conference Finals singlehandedly caused Pittsburgh media to fabricate all sorts of made up reasons why the Penguins lost the series. Halak will help keep Rask fresh and ready to go and extend his time as a top goalie

Buffalo - Jeff Skinner

The Sabres were weak on the left wing so they went out and got Conor Sheary from the Penguins and then they pulled off a great trade later in the summer to get Jeff Skinner. Skinner has been one of the best goal scoring wingers and while he has missed time due to concussions his "injury prone" reputation is way overblown. The last five years he has played in 71, 77, 82, 79, and 82 games. There is a ton of potential for fun hockey with Skinner joining forces with Jack Eichel. Probably the best center he's ever played with.

Detroit - Thomas Vanek

It's another one-year contract for Vanek and it is another year I would feed him power play time and puff up his offensive numbers to flip him at the deadline. With Henrik Zetterberg getting the "my contract cash has run out" blues the Red Wings aren't going to be good. They could really use some futures and I think somebody like Vanek can help that on a small scale.

Florida - Mike Hoffman

Great hockey player and they didn't have to go crazy with the assets it took to require him. Ottawa took less to trade him out of the division and less than an hour later guess where he is? Classic Ottawa.

Montreal - Max Domi

The Canadiens are banking on Max Domi returning to his 18 goal rookie season production and not the 18 total goals he's scored the last two combined. I wonder if Montreal has learned about QoT yet?

Ottawa - Mikkel Boedker

Yeah, not much to look forward to in Ottawa right now. Boedker was a power play specialist in the desert and you aren't going to get what you think at 5v5. Oh and Karlsson is leaving. Great times

Tampa Bay - N/A

The way Tampa Bay is currently structured they don't have to go out and necessarily make many moves to stay a contender. Right now it is about deciding who to let go and who to give raises to. Perhaps if I waited a month to do this you might see Erik Karlsson's name here. Toronto - John Tavares

I don't really need to say a lot here. The biggest free agent to switch teams in some time. Toronto's center depth of Matthews, Tavares, and Kadri is really good.
