Bertuzzi, Frk sign new deals (Red Wings)

The Detroit Red Wings came to terms Monday with two of the club’s restricted free agent forwards. Left wing Tyler Bertuzzi agreed to a two-year deal, while right wing Martin Frk took a one-year pact. Bertuzzi’s deal comes with a reported $1.4 million cap hit, while Frk’s is a cap hit of $1.05 million. There was strong speculation that the Wings might not sign Frk, and he still faces a battle to make the squad in training camp, especially if forwards Michael Rasmussen and Filip Zadina, the club’s last two first-round draft picks, are kept with the team. The Wings still must get three other restricted free-agent forwards - Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha and Andreas Athanasiou - to reach agreements on new deals. In minor-league matters, the Wings opted not to qualify two players from AHL Grand Rapids - defenseman Dan Renouf and right wing Zach Nastasiuk, making both unrestricted free agents. The team did extend a qualifying offer to right wing Matt Puempel. Puempel, 25, who has played in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers, produced 22-32-54 numbers in 57 games with Grand Rapids last season.
