Jonathan Bernier starts for the Avalanche and former Colorado goalie Peter Budaj for Tampa Bay on Saturday at the Pepsi Center.
Here are the GAME NOTES.
Also, Nail Yakupov replaces Gabriel Bourque after sitting out five games, a couple of them because he was ill.
Coach Jared Bednar will go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen for the sixth consecutive game.
The Lightning (23-6-2) present plenty of problems for the Avalanche (15-14-2), who have won three of their past four games after dropping four in a row.
Here is Bednar's response when I asked him this morning what challenges the Lightning present:
"Everything. Lowest goals against, most goals for, great power play. You got to stay disciplined. Four-line team that comes at you with the lines and the D jumping up into the play. A lot to handle.
"We got to be patient, but one thing to keep in mind for us, we can't give them too much respect. We know they're dangerous and we have to go out and try to be the aggressor. For us, if we're sitting back or playing on our heels it usually doesn't turn out well ... it's certainly not going to turn out well playing against this team." The lineup:
FORWARDS Gabriel Landeskog -- Nathan MacKinnon -- Mikko Rantanen Sven Andrighetto -- J.T. Compher -- Colin Wilson Matt Nieto -- Carl Soderberg -- Blake Comeau Tyson Jost -- Nail Yakupov
DEFENSE Nikita Zadorov -- Erik Johnson Patrik Nemeth -- Tyson Barrie Anton Lindholm -- Mark Barberio Samuel Girard
GOALIES Jonathan Bernier Semyon Varlamov
