The Pittsburgh Penguins will return to game action tomorrow night against the New York Rangers. It starts a stretch of five consecutive divisional games. The Metropolitan Division has been crushing their competition recently and this five game stretch should provide some challenges for the team without Letang and Daley.
You can now add Tom Kuhnhackl to the list. He has been labeled as week to week and that should explain why the Penguins departed from the fourth line setup that had found recent success. If the team plans on moving forward with a Wilson-Cullen-Fehr fourth line in Kuhnhackl’s absence do not expect Jake Guentzel to get the call. Instead the Penguins would call up a player they have no problem with sitting in the press box and that would be Tom Sestito.
Speaking of the Baby Penguins they have some nice Christmas threads I stumbled upon while on reddit. This particular photo was posted by /u/jpmad
I happen to think the jerseys look great and one of the perks of being in the minor leagues is that you have more flexibility and freedom to use jersey like this.
Over the weekend the Penguins announced that Daniel Sprong will indeed be returning back to his junior team when he is fully healed from his shoulder surgery. This shouldn’t come as a surprise. They can’t guarantee him a roster spot and they aren’t going to have him sit every night. He belongs in the AHL, but will be heading to juniors because of the CHL transfer agreement. Here is to hoping his junior team’s season ends sooner rather than later so he can join the Baby Penguins and get some proper development time this year.
