It's been a while since I've sat down to write and I do apologize for that. Sometimes life has a funny way of pushing everything to the side for a bit. But I'm good and all I can do is move on and hope the readers can understand that.
I've been itching to sit down and gush about the Colorado Avalanche. So let's go.
Forget the slow start. Forget the never-ending carousel of injuries. Forget the standings. And for one moment stop and appreciate the offensive might of this hockey club.
A day after the Avs' scored seven goals in a game for the fifth time in the last 13 games! They have gone 10-2-1 during this run. Think about that.
The Avalanche haven't been shut out at all and they've been held to one goal just three times. On the flip side, they've scored four or more goals 15 times in 23 games.
Think about how electric this club is from the front end and backend. Colorado's scored 69 goals (Giggity) in its last 13 games. That's the first time a team has done that since the mid-'90s. The 4.26 goals per game they are averaging are tops in the NHL and of some seriously significant historical significance.
Chew on this for a second: No NHL team has averaged more than four goals a game since the early '90s and it only happened TWICE in the '90s.
To say the 'Avs are in rarified air is an understatement. They currently have the 61st highest goals per game average in NHL history. Granted we're not even halfway through that season but that is saying something.
Forget the individual efforts for a moment and marvel at how much fun Colorado is collectively... injuries or not. Doesn't matter who's in the lineup good stuff happens.
We are basically seeing nothing but video game stats from this team and that's never a bad thing.
Thanks for reading, Steve
