Another Forward Acquired, Wild Add Nyquist (Wild)

Another forward has been added to the Wild pool of offensive hope. Gustav Nyquist was acquired from Columbus for a fifth round selection in the up coming draft, with the Blue Jackets retaining 50% of Nyquist's salary.

Nyquist joins Marcus Johansson who was acquired in a deal with Washington . Nyquist is currently out with a shoulder injury and the hope is that he can be back to help the Wild in the playoffs.

These are low end moves that may deliver upside returns that remains to be seen. However this does appear to be a precursor to some other move or moves that Bill Guerin will attempt to complete before Friday's deadline.

Filip Gustavsson was brilliant again tonight as the Wild picked up a key victory in a shootout over the Islanders. Gustavsson made some huge saves in the third period as well as overtime, before stopping all three Islanders that he faced in the shootout.

Freddy Gaudreau continued his shootout greatness as he provided the margin of victory with his goal off of Ilya Sorokin's glove.

The Wild's recent surge has put them into the race for the Western Conference top seed and Central Division lead. They are within striking distance of both. They have moved 7 points clear of Calgary for the final Wild card spot as well.

The Wild offense was once again challenged as they scored only once during regulation and that came off the stick of Ryan Reeves. It was Reeves' first goal of the season and of course the first of the season for thw big winger.

More moves coming from Guerin?
