All Systems Go For Bowey (Red Wings)

Madison Bowey’s time has finally arrived. After sitting and watching for two games since he was acquired from the Washington Capitals, the 23-year-old defenseman will make his debut with the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena against the Montreal Canadiens. “I think the coaching staff has done a great job of working me in and giving a solid system and quick as possible,… Bowey told Mlive.com. “It’s going to take some time but I definitely feel comfortable here going into tonight. “I’m definitely learning a lot every day and I just keep wanting to build and improving here.… Bowey will be paired with veteran Trevor Daley and Jonathan Ericsson will come out of the lineup to make way for him. “I think you get more comfortable every day, so hopefully he’s more comfortable today than he was the first day,… Wings coach Jeff Blashill said of Bowey. “You’d love to have eight practices and a training camp and go from there but that’s not the reality of life. Madison has played in the NHL, some of the stuff we do is similar to Washington, some of it is different. “We’ve had discussions about that. In the end you got to go play and react and not play to the way you think the coaches want you to. You’ve got to do what you think is right and then make adjustments when you get to the bench.… Bowey regretted leaving the defending Stanley Cup champion Capitals but recognizes that in Detroit he’ll be offered the chance to suit up as a regular. He was in an out of the lineup in Washington “I think for myself personally this is a great opportunity to get into this team, a younger team more on the rebuild side of things,… Bowey said. “I’m just looking forward to it.… Harsh Words The Canadiens were one of the teams that passed on Filip Zadina at the NHL entry draft and he vowed at the time to fill the Montreal net with pucks so that they would regret their decision. In his second NHL game Tuesday, Detroit right-winger Zadina gets just that chance for the first time, but he didn’t think his draft-day pronouncement would be a subject of trash talk during the game. “I don’t know,… Zadina said. “I’m a rookie, so probably they don’t need to do that. If they will do that it means something for me. “I don’t think it’s going to count in this game. We’ll see.… Vanek Out Forward Thomas Vanek will miss his second straight game with a tweak suffered on the weekend. Luke Witkowski will play forward. Goalie Jimmy Howard is also back after missing two games with a stomach virus. Harri Sateri was returned to AHL Grand Rapids. Follow me on Twitter @asktheduffer
