While it's a bit too early to say I Told You So, the Washington Capitals are off to a terrible start.
After being propped up early by Ovechkin's 50% shooting percentage and six goals-over-two-periods, they have quickly sank to the bottom of the league and things don't look to get better.
Not as long as the team is doing insane things like putting dangerous-but-bad-at-hockey Tom Wilson on the first damn line.
Not as long as they're dressing cats like Aaaron Ness, Brooks Orpik, Taylor Chorny or Devonte Smith-Pelly.
After winning their first two games, they have dropped four of five and sit at 3-3-1.
That's a long cry from their previous incarnation as the NHL's best team, a position they bequeathed to the Toronto Maple Leafs the other night in a listless 2-0 loss.

The Capitals currently sit with the seventh-worst possession stats in the NHL. The worse news is that their PDO is currently 103 meaning that they've been the recipients of good luck so far.
When you've lost four of five and are still getting lucky, you're in trouble.
Their next game is tomorrow against the Red Wings. Then it's Florida on Saturday.
Two winnable games, you'd think. But the way the Capitals are playing, I don't know that there's even such a thing as a winnable game.
