Souray likely to miss game

According to reports, including the Edmonton Sun, Souray will miss tonight's game after aggravating his shoulder injury. I believe he has flown back to Edmonton.

It doesn't appear to that Hemsky will play tonight, but could return on Saturday.

Oilers lose fourth in a row

The Oilers lost again, this time 2-1 to the Ducks. Without Ales Hemsky in the lineup, the Oilers created very little offensively and mustered a paltry 16 shots on goal. The powerplay barely had a sniff in its 3 opportunities.

MacT is going to announce Hemsky’s timeline for return shortly. Ethan Moreau will play Saturday. Let’s hope he can bring some passion to the team.

Lineup Notes, Devils visit Oilers

Dwayne Roloson has strept throat, and will not dress tonight. University of Alberta goaltender, Aaron Sorochan has been signed to a contract and will be the backup. Expect Deslauriers to be called up after the game.

Sanderson is a healthy scratch, and Stortini will be drawing in. My question is why. Maybe MacT is expecting Sutter to have his guys play a rough game.

New Offer to Buy the Oilers from Katz, Chairman Nichols endorsing offer

It appears that Katz has made a new offer to the Oilers ownership, and this time Chairman Cal Nichols will be endorsing the move.

---------------------------------------------------------------
According to Bob Stauffer on the Team 1260, there will be a major announcement regarding the ownership of the Oilers. Could this be another Katz offer that is going to be rejected? Could the ownership

Lineup Notes, Oilers visit Stars

It appeared as though Tarnstrom would be back tonight, but that is no longer the case. The D will remain the same as it has been. Both Tarnstrom and Souray are on the trip, and one if not both may play tomorrow.

Stoll and Torres will be back in tonight, starting the game with Thoreson. Stortini is out, and Reddox was sent back down. Let's see how they respond. They have been saying all of

Oilers beat Ducks, but lose Hemsky

The Oilers played their best game of the year on Friday night. I think that is fairly obvious. They skated, they forechecked, the played hard, put the puck in the net, got good goaltending, and had great penalty killing. Horcoff and Hemsky have both elevated their game, and have displaying very good chemistry.

The Ducks are a very physical team. Throughout the entire game, they were looking

Praise for Pitkanen, and other Oilers Notes

Joni Pitkanen has been very impressive since his return from knee surgery. He skates with long, graceful strides, and is able to lead the rush whenever he sees fit. He is also able to get back on defense with the same smooth stride. He brings a different element to the Oilers backend. When they struggle to make a breakout pass, and the forwards are bumbling the puck in the neutral zone against

Oilers win, Oilers win, Oilers win (against the Canucks in a shootout)

The Oilers got their fifth shootout victory tonight, beating the Canucks 5-4. This was the Oilers best effort in quite some time, but they still needed the shootout to win. They had more offensive chances and pressure than they have had in the last week. And how about the powerplay? It went 3 for 8, and had several chances that didn’t go in. What was most surprising about the powerplay is th

Oilers win a scoreless game in a shootout; Souray suffers setback

The Oilers won a scoreless game against the Canucks last night, when Ales Hemsky scored in the shootout. It was an exciting game, with plenty of scoring chances, but both goalies stood tall. The Oilers were thoroughly dominated for the first two periods, but Garon held them in. In the third period, the Oilers had several chances to take the lead, but failed to bulge the twine. While they didnâ

Oilers win a hard fought and entertaining edition of the Battle of Alberta

The Oilers won a very hard fought battle of Alberta, by a score of 4-2. This was one of the most entertaining games of the year, and for the first time since the second game of the season, the Oilers won in regulation. There were a plethora of scoring chances, but for the first time in recent memory, the Oilers goaltender outplayed the Flames’ goalie. Garon made the easy saves, and made sever
