This is all true as long as, by 6 more years you mean 6 + 4 = 10 more years. Unless 6 years is the "new" decade?

Gillis will not let go a goalie he has under contract for 6 more years to sign a goalie for one year. If Schneider is only going to sign for one year it will be for someone else. Don't get excited Leaf fans Gillis hates Burke and has 10 other teams to choose from.

Schneider is an extremely loyal teammate. If the Canucks trade Luongo I'm willing to bet anything that Schneider signs long term. If he wants 1 year, then we keep Luongo an trade Schneider.

As far as the Bruins go, I wouldn't risk doing just a 1 year deal with Rask. Thomas isn't getting younger and he is already out for them this season. They really don't have much theyre comfortable with as it is, at least thats what Chiarelli seemed to be showing with their deadline deal last season when Rask was hurt. Try and work around cap issues with Thomas and get Rask a deal. He wants to stay in Boston and he knows hes the guy there for some time. Don't see why they can't figure out a longer contract.

Completely agree, but like i said earlier I heard he was signing a three year extension for 13M. Plus I think we trade Thomas before the season after the CBA if the salary cap floor is still in place. For a small market team it adds 5M to their salary cap and they don't have to pay him jack

Nothing against Eks sources but Gillis will not let Lu go to sign Schneider for one year only.
- VANTEL

Probably not. Like I said, this would give Gillis, Schneider and even Luongo time to see how this shake out.

And if Schnieder is on the table....Gardiner & a first would be stealing him.

Many teams would be trying for him, just to have a chance at a franchise goalie.

Not to pick on you or anything but they finished incredibly high last year---where was Toronto? They have two pretty good goalies, even on a bad night. And you have...?

Agreed. Gillis isn't an idiot. He wouldn't risk being left without a goalie after this season, just to sign Schneider to a one year deal.

IF he's going to move Luongo, I think he'll want a guarantee from Schneider in the form of a multi-year contract. If he can't get that he'll probably keep Luongo and trade Schneids for a higher return.

Be that as it may, Schneider will be looking after Schneider's best interests first.

IF he signs a one year contract it's because Luongo is still with the team riding a 10 year contract.

Schneider doesn't want to play backup and this would be his way of telling them that. If Luongo gets moved, Schneider probably signs a 4-6 year deal.

For one year that would make sense. But I hope they lock him up for atleast 3. Did you hear that rumor as well EK? I forget who it was but they said 3 yr 13M...no truth to that you think?

Yeah, I wouldn't count on being "loyal teammates" in cases like this. He can be just a loyal teammate to 29 other teams in this league. Until Luongo is gone, he'll continue to be used as a second-rate starter, so that Vancouver can play Luongo to maximize his trade value. Schneider won't do the "nice" thing and wait out another 2 years for Gillis to get his poop together.

If Schneider signs for one year, then Gillis is (frank)ed. He then needs to trade Schneider, cause Schneider will then test being a UFA

You think there's a possibility Schneider could sign an offer sheet if presented with one?

How does a being a Leaf fan affect someone commenting on Gillis' difficulties, especially since those difficulties may affect the ability of the Leafs to acquire a goalie? Maybe we should only let Kings' fans comment here because the fans of everything other are LOSERS
