Great GM who'll be gone in a few years (who doesn't actually have a recent resume of being a great GM, unless you believe it was all him in Toronto-it wasn't)

Coach who plays a boring Defense first system who had mediocre success in Nashville and was considered a disappointment in Washington until they got hot and were carried by OV, Kusnetsov and Holtby to the cup

Wahlstrom and Dobson who are years away from being contributors and don't help the roster today

And they need a goalie, who in theory they will have to give up future or current assets to get, unless they kick the can down the road AGAIN and look for a bargain Free Agent

So, for how many more years must Tavares wait to REALLY compete for a cup?

All the while toiling in Brooklyn as a new arena, which is also years away, eventually gets built

I would leave that dump in Brooklyn/Long Island if i was J.T., come home to Toronto which has a MUCH better chance to win the cup than the Isles & the arena is a Taj Mahal and the fan base is crazy about hockey.............shall i go on?

I was referring to the outdated arena in Long Island and the new rink in Brooklyn is more suited for the Nets not the Isles. This is one of the many reasons that J.T wil probably leave.

WHat outdated arena? the coliseum was just redone last year and is brand new. They are also building a brand new state of the art arena in Belmont for the Islanders. If Tavares leaves it wont be because of the area or arena

Hasn’t he waited long enough?

Interesting to think JT's motivations to sign.

He has been in an organisation that was steady but not fantastic with managent not really looking to do anything out of the box to try & win - made some great moves but never followed up on then to go further.

Now that organisation is rebuilding from the top. Still lacks certain players to make a difference on ice. So does JT continue on that's pathway hoping that new management will replace players to take the next step, or just go to a real contender now where he know some what chance they have & how they will play?

Not sure Stamkos is a good comparison, the Bolts were & are a serious contender (just need a new coach), the Islanders aren't even guaranteed a playoff spot.
