Think they did ok but Veleno might have been better on that second pick. Think Tkachuk will be solid for them.

A good start and Dorion DID add a 2nd rd pick too so...

Good thing Ottawa traded for Bobby Ryan and all his ceiling. That ceiling he never quite reached and is still being paid for that potential. If Tkachuk is such a downer, maybe a deal between Calgary and Ottawa needs to be worked out. We'd love to see Matthew and Brady beat the crap out of each other in practice to push each other and then take it to opposing teams as well, with skill, brute, and greasy annoying in your face attitudes. These comments were for the writer, not Ottawa fans. Stop being so down on a pretty positive day. The Sens haven't had a lot of those recently. Don't poo-poo on the good ones ones they do have.

Sens should have moved Duchene for a top pick this year and given Colorado their 1st this year

Just a big undo on that trade

#tanknation and go for Hughes next year

Tkachuk is staying in college and will become a free agent in a few years.

I read very positive things but also some negative things about Tkachuck (mainly Sens beatwriters). Time will tell. Maybe it is also part of the grand plan of this deal:

To Ottawa: Whole Calgary roster - M. Tkachuck.
To Calgary: Whole Ottawa roster

----

I just picked Tkachuck in my fantasy league draft at 4 (also drafted Zadina at 3). Not so sure about the pick but we value peripherals high as well. Other picks I was interested in were Kravtsov and Wahlstrom but Tkachuck must have more value right?!

I don't get why we don't buy out guys like Gaborik and Burrows. We can save a lot of money on this. We don't spend to the cap anyways but it will save ownership some money.

Also with the news (or no news) I'm assuming Karlsson will stay at least until the TDL, which is great

Hope for the following lines:
Boedker - Duchene - Stone
Tkachuck - Pageau - Ryan
Smith - White - Dzingel
Paajarvi - Chlapik - Gaborik
Pyatt/Burrows

FA - Karlsson
Chabot - Ceci
Borowiecki - Wideman
Harpur

There is no doubt that Zadina will score more goals than Brady Tkachuk over his career ( barring injuries , etc) .

The primary goal of an NHL team is to win enough games to get in the playoffs and go on a long run . Brady T is going to make everyone around him better and will create space for the likes of Brown,Formenton,White,Batherson,Chlapik . He is the kind of player that will thrive in tough games .

Either Zadina or Tkachuk were fine options . Both will be terrific but very different type of players . I like the character that Brady brings to the table !!

So you figure Tkachuk would delay his NHL career and NHL dollars by an extra 2-3 years just so he wouldn`t play in Ottawa? He would also be delaying his second NHL contract and the bigger dollars that come with it by an extra 2-3 years. Yeah, you go with that...

I'm happy with Tkachuk as our pick. He's a big body who brings a ton to Ottawa.

I wanted Zadina, but I think he fact that he was passed on by every team until the Wings.... really says something.

I really liked dropping with the later pick to get an extra 2nd

Zadina would have been my preferred pick in the number four spot. Elite goal scoring talent is hard to find. That said, Tkachuk was my second choice for that spot as it is much safer / easier to project future success for forwards versus defencemen.

Tkachuk is a nasty piece of work with talent and incredible drive. I am very confident that he will be a very valuable player going forward.

Why is Mark Stone so valuable to this team? Talent, very hard working, always strives to improve and hates losing. From everything I`ve read, Tkachuk shares these traits.

Don't listen to that ding dong. All you have to do is watch his post draft interviews and look at his Instagram, the kid is thrilled to be drafted and to play in the NHL.

Here`s the scoop on Bernard-Docker from TSN:

Craig Button's Analysis
"Efficient, effective, calm and smart player who can execute the plays in all areas of the game. Solid skills with potential."

Projection: Top 4 Two-Way Defenceman
Comparable: Dante Fabbro

Skating - 4/5
Hockey sense - 4/5
Defensive play - 3/5
Puck skills - 3.5/5
Competitivenes 4/5

This guy is a right handed defenceman.

Like what?

That Montreal and Arizona really wanted to add a centre over a winger and Ottawa valued a bit more snarl over skill?

Or perhaps that all three teams made a mistake?

It's not like highly talented players haven't dropped in their draft before and got selected well after a number of busts.

Not that upset with #4 pick (though I agree that Zadina is a better pick), but Ottawa really missed the mark at 26.... Much better talent available at the D position according to, well, all the so-called experts.

From what i've heard, Dorion's scouts were adamant to take him, it's a bit of a reach though since most lists seem to put him in the 38-42 range.

Let's hope this is more like Karlsson and less like Brian Lee.

Who knows, maybe he didn't interview well.

All I'm saying is that for a guy who could be a 30+ goal scorer and for most of the year was ranked at #3. There must be a reason he dropped down a bit.

Who knows it could be something as simple as he didn't interview well, or it could be nothing.

It's just interesting

"I'm going to fill their net with goals". Great that Zadina is 1. highly skilled, 2. In our division, 3. hates our team now. Good times ahead.

No way he drops that far if Bergevin/Dorion weren't picking at 3/4, Red Wings probably didn't even see this coming.

Will be interesting to see how fast Brady signs his ELC, the longer it goes the more likely he pulls a Blake Wheeler. I expect another year at BU, otherwise he would of went the route of his brother.
