I wasn't trolling, guess I misread Bennett's status in cgy. I thought people were ready to move on. A first is not too shabby for the season he just had - jcragcrumple
He's 21 and played almost the whole year with Mark Jankowski and Troy Brouwer. Stats don't tell the whole story. |

He's 21 & certainly has more than enough time to have a breakout season. Everyone thought the breakout would have been last year but a coach had mush brain & played him with AHL call ups, vet anchors & he got very little PP time. Look at the TOI Reinhart got on the 1st PP time. Would to at least see what a new coach can do for the kid. Bennett has a nasty streak & can fight, something you want come playoff time.
You dont bail on pennies for a 4th overall. I would hope Maloney & Treliving's memories are sharp when the look back what happened to them on that Turris trade they did in Arizona. |

I really like the player, like I said, not trolling at all. I was just under the impression that fans were fed up. Thx for the insight, cheers |

Thats the problem. He's the type of player that has a high ceiling everyone wants to buy low on but has a few scuff marks that bring the grinders trying to steal him. You almost cant trade him at this point. Too much invested in him. Thing is, we want to contend now while we still have 3-4 more years of contract with Gaudreau, Monahan, Hamilton & 2-3 decent years of Gio. If we trade him, we want would want a decent player coming back. 19th overall gives you a 50% chance maybe that kid plays in the NHL in 2-3 years. We need a RW that can play top 6 or we need a top 6 Centre that can win some goddamn face offs & allow us to move Backlund & Frolik to the 3rd line & create a 2nd scoring line featuring that new centre (RoR for example) with Tkachuk. That alone improves our bottom 6 offence. |

Which is why we need to throw Brodie in as a trade chip & if Bennett is part of a bigger deal to get a real high end player for our top 6, I wouldnt be happy but could understand it. |

The sabres have Dahlin, Scandella, Mccabe, Guhle and Beaulieu down the left. Doubt they would have interest in Brodie + Bennett for ROR. The Sabres would be after Hamilton, but I'm assuming that's a no go?
If you guys are looking for scoring, I think Skinner woould be a better fit for what you'd have to give up |

Skinner is a left winger I think. We need right wingers. |

Thing is, Brodie's been much more effective as a Right D than he has as a Left D. How much of that has to do with playing with Gio, who knows, but there's no doubt he's struggled on the left side. I'm not sure if the Sabres see it that way but it is worth noting if you're looking for Right D. |

Risto, Bogo and Nelson. Bogo is clearly a Sabre for the next 2 years, unfortunately. There's not a team out there that wants that contract. Sabres have 8 d right now. I don't see them in the market for one unless it pushes Risto to the second pair |

Calgary would be smart to hold onto Bennett. He reminds me of Kadri. Put up big numbers in junior struggled playing center at the NHL level the first few years. He's gritty and will occasionally drop the gloves, great fight against Trouba last year.
If he stays he likely signs at a reasonable cap and will have some good prime years under long term contract.
