I have been to about 15 games this year, including 6 playoff matches. Dermott and Johnsson are the obvious NHLers.

I expect Sparks to be given a shot with some team to be a backup next year (Marlies will lose him on waivers if he does not make the team out of camp). Pickard looks fully capable as well...not sure what his future is.

On D, do not expect a Liljegren sighting at the ACC any time soon. The kid is nowhere near ready for the NHL. He shows flashes.....both good and bad....but needs time to grow. Holl has impressed me......he could surprise and be a decent bottom pairing guy. Rosen and Borgman....we saw them both with the Leafs last year, and would think that they will be in the mix again next season, depending on what other moves are made. Borgman has been hurt for awhile, so no updates on him. Rosen has picked up his game in the playoffs....skating skills are really starting to show. Do not hate me for saying this, but Marincin has been okay.....but no way I want him on the Leafs.

Up front, Aaltonen and Grundstrom may challenge for positions in camp (there is a part of me that would love to see those 2 and Johnsson become our new 4th line and drive other teams nuts with their speed). I don't see anyone else making the move up next year, but am intrigued by Mason Marchment and Trevor Moore. I had zero expectations for both going into the season and both have been impressive. I think another year of AHL seasoning is in order....take a bigger role with the likes of johnsson having moved on.....but I would not be surprised to see viewed as legit prospects by this time next year.

I don't see Bracco ever making it......if the Goat does not get more physical then he never makes it full time.....and I am still an Andrew Nielsen fan, but he did not take the step forward this year that I was hoping for.

Okay.....criticize away.

The Leafs will not trade Gardiner, because the return would be far below what it would take to replace him.

I know this is a break in logic, but he's bad, but not bad enough to give up on. Leafs are better off continuing to try to teach him how to hockey.

It's a weird thing.

- Atomic Wedgie

True.
Strange how a 50 point defencemen is deemed almost worthless especially in an era where 50 point defencemen are valued higher than 1st line wingers.
That was my more or less my point.
I think Dermott could replace his offense, however, not to the same level. More of a complete game from Dermott.

What pieces do you think would come back in a hypothetical trade of Gardiner?
Picks? Prospects? Roster player only?
I think Manson could be had for Gardiner.
I would even add a pick and prospect to offset, but I rarely know anything so there's that too.

Are you aware your location says Oshawa?
I only say that because usually people who are not crackheads/white trash from Oshawa don't run around representing.
Actually, now that I've written this out I have a new sense of understanding in regards to your situation.
God bless and enjoy Sparks' tears, I hear they are extra salty in the NHL.

I honestly don't even know where to start to evaluate the question.

Do teams look at his point totals?

His supposed swwwweeeeeeeettttt advanced stats?

Or do they know that he makes the most horrid brain farts in the history of the game?

There's never been a more polarizing player - he's called the best player on the Leafs and a guy who couldn't play in the AHL.

If I was going to trade him, I'd want to talk to all 30 GMs before pulling the trigger.

Bracco might. he is only 21. it has taken Andreas Johnsson until he was 23 to make the jump. 2 more years of development makes a difference

if you're selling off for one year, all you get is a late 1st, an ok prospect and another conditional pick imo.

maybe there is a 1 for 1 swap that makes more sense...but i'm not seeing it right now.

never liked gardiner.
but he has some value to a team with a different d setup. in fact, a team like winnipeg could be a fit for gardiner's particular skillset.
boston, anaheim, nashville, la as well.
bascially any team that could give him sheltered 2nd/3rd line duties and play him on pp and with defensive minded scoring forwards.

I'd take that package.
Chiapet would do that 1-for-1 trade. But who is the One?

Alzner is another.

Some called him a top-4 shutdown beast.

Some called him a pile of poop waiting to be exposed.

But did you grow up so you could move into your moms basement, copy and paste information as your own in blog form and host Wildwest Billy Watters on podcasts so people take you seriously?

PS.
Don't let North York rub you the wrong way, I mean is there really a way you can be rubbed wrong? Don't ask the Leafs blogger about this.

EDIT:
Where is Lucas Neilson????????

I only disagree with a couple things. I agree that Liljegren won't be in the NHL next season (maybe a game or two) but I disagree that he's "nowhere near ready for the NHL". He's made great strides in 1 season already. Back at rookie camp he was a complete mess defensively, now he more than holds his own.

And I also think that Bracco has a chance. It usually takes him a bit of time to get used to a new league, then he plays great. He was showing signs of being really good near the end of the AHL season. I fully expect him to be one of the Marlies better players next season. And if he isn't, then I'll start to doubt his chances.

Sign Tavares for $10 milly per year.

Tell Matthews that you are willing to give him the same amount for 8 years - and together, they can treat the NHL like their mistress for the foreseeable future.

Tell Marner that puts his peg at $8 million.

Then trade Nylander for Doughty.

Only thing left to do would be to plan the parade route.

i also read the other day on Liljegren that in order to be exempt from the Seatle exp draft (assuming same rules) they have to keep him in t he minors for half of next season.

I dont know if thats true or not..but something else to consider if so

Not saying it will happen, but no sense throwing cash at garbage players. Even if it means taking a small step backwards, keep the cap space. Dont tie all of hte cap space up in guys like JVR and Gardiner who we know we cant win with.

He's willing to sign here for less.

He's a gud pro. Plays the game the right way and takes it one shift at a time.
