At 5 1/2 of them were picking dandy flowers as the 1 or 2 kids who liked soccer ran by them with the ball....down the field to kick the ball into the empty net ( because the goalie decided they needed to talk to mom and dad over on the sidelines )

I have a video of my 5 year old son scoring his first goal.

The play takes a while to develop as he is moving the ball from behind the net (yes, behind) around to the front, about 1 inch at a time, before kicking it in.

The only problem was that it was OUR NET! You can see and hear people pointing to the other end of the field.

for sure, I always laugh, often out loud, when kids score on their own goal and start to celebrate.. Only to have the coach come over to them and point out that the net to score on is " over there"

It happens every where; It's all in good fun, as long as she is happy.. Then we're happy.

It bothers me when parents tell some kids to get off the field cause they think the kids are not trying.

I'm guessing for Melnyk there's only one way out of this mess - where he can say the optics.

1) come out in support of Karlsson today (asap) regarding the stupidity with Hoffman
2) tell EVERYONE that the team will move Hoffman asap - regardless of whether he Hoffman apologizes or whatever - which sends the sign that the team is picking a side clearly
3) this will clearly indicate to Karlsson that the team values him (whatever happens contract wise)
4) offer Karlsson a 3 year 45million dollar contract - then he has the choice again in 3 years
5) get Karlsson a solid blueline partner
6) play the kids period

Too funny...I miss those days, now I just want to throat punch 1/2 the parents.

( pretty sure most of them want to knock me out at the rink, so I guess it's even )

If Melnyk wants to come out of this mess, looking good then he does need to move on from Hoffman.. I think if all this does come back on Hoffman and he knew about it all along, he should go on waivers.

can't really ask them to do that anymore... a) because they don't know how b) 'cause they don't have coaches who can teach them how c)... and most notably... because they all want to now play tippy-tappy ... no one even kicks the ball with force anymore... "you might hurt someone" ... ridiculous.

When I was a kid I remember getting a ball or two to my face. It sucked.

I may have coached you

Kid I coached got it 3 times in less then 2 weeks....I told him 1 more time and it will be all calloused and it won't hurt anymore. ( his parents gave me a strange look as their boy stood there crying )

Trade both but if they want to even remotely think about keeping Karlsson then Hoffman goes right now.

The funny part is, Dorion had the option to make trades at the deadline but wanted to sit on his hands hoping for a higher return during summer or next deadline or whenever. Values keep going down.

I agree, I think both will be moved;

Karlsson traded to Colorado to get back their own 2019 1st rd pick.

Hoffman, on waivers picked up by, oh I don't know.. let's say....Buffalo.
