No one has any clue about who’s goin to be named coach right? - kindlyrick
Not really past DJ Smith. Which Eklund has been citing. No word who has visited or who has been spoken to.
And As for rumors to tomorrow... nice if true. But let’s see what happens. Hard to predict how much rumors become reality when Lou slowly starting to control info lines... though would make sense to be done before draft. |

I meant in terms of office items like announcements (coach), etc. Lou is always quiet and the Give-Mes by org has always based on what Kimber (their PR/media guy) wants to trickle and to who. |

11. and 12. New York Islanders: For teams looking to get into the heart of the first round and willing to move a significant roster player to make it happen, these picks may be the best shot at it. The belief is that Lamoriello is open to anything that helps the team have success right now. This is a new regime, one that has increased the urgency for real success, and with that comes a willingness to make a deal.
The Islanders need a goalie and Lamoriello used a pick in this range to bring Cory Schneider to the New Jersey Devils. The Calgary Flames would like to get back into the first round and history suggests that GM Brad Treliving is active this time of year. What better pick to re-acquire than the one given up in the Travis Hamonic deal? But Calgary also doesn’t have a pick until the fourth round and teams aren’t eager to move completely out of the top portion of a draft that’s considered deep.
Lamoriello should be open for business, but the expectation is that the price will be high to get one of these picks.
“You’re going to pay,” one NHL source said.

Good news!
It's so refreshing to actually believe the team will improve in the off season. I forgot what it was like. I was used to waiting for Snow to sign a 4th liner and go back to playing golf.

Yea and hes landed good players like this before, praying we get Trotz but hes under contract till July 1st and no one has heard about him talking to any other team. I'd expect that from lou but what about the other end? Please not a.v. or bylsma |

I like him, I think he would be a good coach for the Islanders. Trotz obvi is my #1.

I think AV did a nice job with the Rangers and was not given enough talent last year, but I would not hire AV for the Isles. Trotz, Sutter, and DJ Smith would be my order. |

To be fair to AV... he was saddled with a team who was only a contender due to an elite goaltender whose window was closing fast with many deficiencies that got compensated for bc of it. So seems to me AV took hit for issues and items created by lack of cohesive drafting and constant giving away via trade of top (needed) picks. |

I posted many times that Gorton is more at fault than AV. AV took two teams to Cups. What has Gorton done? Still I would not hire AV at this time with the Isles. |

Why? Guy has taken The Rags far into the POs.
He had to adapt to new players being plugged in Year in year out and I thought he did a great job.
His resume trumps any coach the Islanders have hired in decades. I’m thinking if Trotz isn’t available he’s a clear #2 for me. |

Rather have Trotz or Sutter. I would even try DJ Smith with vet coaches over AV. It concerns me that many Rangers fans felt AV was not good with young talent. AV might also benefit taking a year off. |

They hated him but I think that happens to any fanbase after time, he took Canucks to finals too so he may be a good coach and u still have some ranger bias |

Again if we can get Trotz sign me up. An explosive offensive team needing a defense first coach to buy into a new system is exactly what the Islanders need. If we can’t get that and that’s a hard if then AV would be a good choice. |

I do think AV is a good coach, but it just does not feel right for the Isles to hire him. Does not seem like a Lou move hiring an ex Ranger. |

Guy brought them to The Cup and 2 CFs with a team hard against the cap having to get rid of pieces every year and he kept them rolling.
Going for the Cup, trading the picks and youth for key pieces caught up with them. For me AV did his job with what he was given year to year. |

I have my heart set on Trotz or Sutter and failing that I think the hotshot coach like DJ Smith is the way to go. |
