I have no doubt that all picks will basically be 1st rounders this year

Collberg had not 2, not 3, but 4 goals last season with the Rogle BK. Not to mention his 5 assists!

On behalf of the Montreal Canadiens, you're welcome, Sweden.

oh please Montreal go after Lucic.

They would be trading for the 10th pick more than Lucic

If this is what it takes to completely destroy this team for a few years more,
sure why not

I don't hate the basis of the deal, but the execution isn't quite what I'd want. Without some manner of arrangements with Pacioretty about resigning before the trade, the risk of losing Klefbom and the 10th overall pick for Schlemko and a 2nd is a blunder FAR too dear to risk. Unless an extension framework can be discussed and agreed upon prior to the draft then I don't see this working for the Oilers. Once summer rolls around, it could be worth exploring something with a similar framework, though:

Lucic, Klefbom and our 2019 1st
For
Pacioretty and Schlemko

- MaximumBone

the Oilers are too much of a wild card for that. that pick could easily end up being in the mid 20s and to trade Pacioretty for such uncertainty is terrible asset management. so Marc Bergevin would probably like your deal. that being said, i am not sure i see Pacioretty committing to a Canadian market long term unless it's Montreal. just seems like a guy who, if he is going to uproot his life/family, he's going to do it in a quieter hockey market.

Pierre was talking about his plan for the Canadiens GM position. So great. You guys would have Cody Ceci on the top pairing.

I agree, if the Habs are taking Lucic it's the 10th overall they're after, anything else and Edmonton can try their luck somewhere else!

If it gets them the 10th pick in the draft they should consider it for sure
- obie

Politely, I have to disagree. I mean sure, you should consider anything as a proper manager. That said, Lucic at that price for five more years, all the while watching him become worse and worse isn't even remotely worth the 10th overall pick in my eyes. If they take back Alzner I'd look at it. Straight up Lucic for the 10th? Hard, HARD pass

I have family members who are Oilers fans. I've seen enough of Lucic over the past couple years to come to the educated conclusion that any GM that trades for him takes the torch for worst gm in the league straight from Chia's hand.

That was my proposal all along, Alzner, Pacioretty & the 56th pick for Lucic and the 10th!

Or some variation of that!

And as far as the 5 years left on Lucic's contract, it becomes very buyout affordable after 3!

While slightly more reasonable I feel like that's a waste of Patches unless Klefbom is in there too. Lucic is that bad. Alzner isn't in that same boat. Patches in there and you've not only taken on possibly the ugliest contract in the NHL but also given up your top tradable asset. Again, politely...hard pass
