I'm sure a few Canucks fans would refuse that deal.
They are an ornery bunch. |

have you guys beat the goalie conversation to death yet? Doesn't matter. Here's my take:
We have:
Andersen
McBackUp
Sparks
Pickard
I suggest you leave the NHL goalies as they are. McBackup played fine and will play fine next year. Let his contract ride out the final year.
Trade Sparks and let Pickard play. Pickard was Colorado's heir apparent for awhile but they no longer liked him and he was taken in the expansion draft.
Sparks' value will never be higher. Trade the guy and allow another prospect or sign another AHL goalie to back up Pickard to see what he's got. He can take over back up duties the following year. |

#fireDubas - MaximusAurelius
I heard that Tavares' agent wanted to meet Dubas, but he asked to meet him in a hotel lobby bar in NYC, and Dubas forgot his ID so he couldn't get in because he looks 12 years old, and now Tavares and his agent are pissed because they think Dubas purposely ditched the meeting, so now Tavares is going to re-sign with the Islanders and score a hat trick every time he plays the Leafs for the rest of his 8 year contract with the Islanders.
I heard it from a couple of guys. |

I believe Pickard also has to pass through waivers this year.
So he may (or may not) get snapped up by another club.
Don't forget we just sign Kasimir Kousawhatshisname - so another goalie that needs a net next year. |

Whoever signs JT will probably wish they could Opt out after 3 or 4 seasons. If Lou can salvage some kind of worthy return, I am not opposed to JT being moved. If he re-signs with the Isles......its not the worst thing in the world cause its not my money. Isles are in a win-win situation. |

Pickard is a RFA on capfriendly.com so I'm curious if you can work a two way deal for the guy and be waiver exempt? |

If you are referring here to a trade of Tavares' rights before July 1st, I just don't see that happening.
Now that teams can talk to pending UFAs up to a week before July 1st, there's just no incentive for a team to trade anything of value. Why would you? |

Two-way doesn’t make a contract waiver exempt. |

JT is arguably the best free agent to ever hit the market.
You just don't let the opportunity to sign him pass by easily.
He'll be good for 4-5years at least (he'll turn 28 this September) - and after that he'll surely be at least a serviceable player capable of 2nd/3rd line minutes.
Bergeron is 32 (33 in July) and he hasn't slowed down one bit.
Same with Malkin (32 this Summer).
So even if you can get 'just' 5 years out of Taveres, you do it - in particular since those are the years that should be great years for Matthews-Marner-Nylander-Kadri-Rielly-Andersen and the support cast.
If Leafs can get Tavares on a deal under 11mln, they run with it. It's a no brainer. |

Two-way deals have absolutely nothing to do with waivers - it's strictly by a weird formula based upon your draft year, # of years as a pro and number of games played.
Signing a two-way deal doesn't sneak him past waivers.
Pickard is 26 years old - he is no longer waiver-exempt. |
