Man you still think I plagiarized crap when I didn't. I forgot that you're the arbiter of authenticity over here. I forgot not to mention any draft observations without the blessing of the one-great-all knowing-always-pissed-off Wiz. I forgot that it was I who got banned for being a jerk and getting into territory disputes... oh wait, that was you.
News flash, you're still being a jerk wiz. I used to feel bad that you got banned for a bit, but now I kind of wish they hung your old curmudgeon a@@ out to dry longer.
You need a serious attitude adjustment. We are all losers posting on a fringe hockey site's 2005 style message board, if you think you're more than that then you should talk to a therapist. - ObeseOprah
I don't know if you plagiarized or not and really I don't care either way but that last line was GOLD! |

88 was horrid last year on defense
Got worse once he knew they were mising the Playoffs
Does not play hard every shift or every night
Only when a chance to score points
Luvs the PP & he was a big reason the PP was terrible last year
Classic Cherry Picker who luvs all the attention
He is a great offensive talent no doubt but hardly an all around player
Has he ever blocked a shot?
Panarin made him for 2 years & last year he was right back to his old tricks
Again let him play a full year with Artie & Saad & then come back
You will puke watching him with those 2 for a FULL YEAR
A lot harder to play Center in NHL than Wing
Hence why he never plays Center to weak & only plays rat ice hockey - Goalie-33

Lots of hot wind going round....you'd think we were at a US/North Korea summit.
Short of a major overhaul and moving the likes of Seabs, Toews and other overpaid low producing individuals this team is going nowhere fast and will not sniff another cup for a long time.
Reality check time.
Still fun to think about what will happen but set your expectations on low.[/img] |

To say the Hawks "are not close"...doesn't really apply, IMO
Theres so much parity in the league, I think the Hawks can make a few moves and get some rebound years an be back in.
Who would ever think Vegas was "close" to anything last June?
I think once they knew Crawford was done and they couldn't put any "run" together, they started playing way more of the younger guys, in and out of the lineup, 8 Dmen, etc...to get long looks and experience for players to evaluate. - PatShart
I agree. Fans tend to forget what just a few more wins does. The Hawks uncustomarily blew lots of leads last season. There were many games they could have won with just average rather than poor goaltending. The Hawks also lost lots of games at season’s end when not surprisinly they lost their intensity. The Hawks were 33-39-10. 3 more wins 36-36-10 for .500. 5 more wins 38-34-10. Just 10 more wins 43-29-10 - 96 points. 12 more wins 45-27-10 - 100 points. The Hawks still have loads of talent before any moves - that is why Rocky is so mad.

Yeah, Shaw reported that he spent at least a month in bed leading up to his wedding last summer with depression and other issues. Scary business. - pdx2ord
Whew that is so tough. That is why I lose my mind with the minutae approach to analysing headshots. I know such minutae is meaningless to the victim’s brain. |

Enough already, man. I don't know how you can claim to watch the game of hockey, or know anything about it. Scoot along somewhere else. Your takes are laughably awful, and nobody here has any desire to read them further. |

Hey, I'm on your side. My comment was in response to someone asking why the Hawks would have interest in anyone from Carolina (since they haven't made the playoffs in a while). All I was saying is that you consider what the player can bring, not necessarily how his current team is doing. - Chunk
Awfully sorry you both are thinking I am gunning b/c I undestood where you were going and showed how they fit those hawks teams. But higher cap hits that have to be resigned long term are not what I want to see unless it is a true dynamic player game changer, and just haven’t seen the Carolina captain his Corsi, Contract, or coagulation into the hawks as a pathway towards some big jump
Towards the Cup.

Scott Powers had a few updates (outside of the Carolina interest) today during a chat:
1) Hawks will likely be talking to Carter Hutton and JvR.
2) Ivan Nalimov has requested the Blackhawks trade his NHL rights.
3) Hayden and Hino extensions are currently being worked on.
4) DeBrincat, Sikura, and Schmaltz aren't being dealt. |

I really hope he's not on the opening night roster....or if he is he's the 13th or 14th forward.

What would you have said about a top 6 of William Karlsson, David Perron. James Neal, Eric Haula, Reilly Smith and Jonathan Marchessault? |

Not even sure what CHI would even get for him.
Best comparible might be in 2015, when Anders Nilsson's NHL rights were traded by #Blackhawks to the #Oilers in exchange for prospect Liam Coughlin.
In other words... not much unless some team is really high on him. |

It's all about the goaltending !!! Perfect example ... look at the Vegas Golden Knights. Fluery had the team in front of him playing with CONFIDENCE because of him. The Hawks lacked any confidence with the carousel of goalies last year |

I think that on paper the Top 6 forwards I posted are better, but the Vegas D-Core and bottom 2 lines were MUCH better than the Hawks last year, and until proven otherwise via personnel change or huge player development, this coming season too. |

Weird coming from me, but I wouldn't mind Martinsen in a checking line role. He's defensively responsible enough imo and with the right transition center, it could work. The problem is that I don't know yet if Kampf is that center and he's the closest they have. The Hawks will not do well with another basic grinder 4th line that takes the easiest comp. They need to be able to have a line that can take some pressure off Toews/Kane and allow an offensive lower line to exist - Bickell-Shaw-Stalberg were able to get the bumslaying assignments in part because of Kruger. |

I'm pretty sure the right situation is a player that can help them now. I believe Bowman expressed that earlier that the Hawks aren't to trade for many long term prospects, but they want guys who are ready to contribute. - breadbag
Trading the pick would be the smartest move for Bowman. |

Nobody on the roster, but there would have to be significant value in the trade to give up Saad. I don't see it happening, 3 years left of a decent contract for a top 6 forward is hard to give up.
Saad for Hamilton would be a decent trade. - DarthKane
Saad for Hamilton is a fair trade, but it still doesn't work for the Hawks. Yes, the Hawks have need for a top pairing RD but they also have need for top 6 quality forwards, especially those with size and who are defensively responsible. Trading Saad for a d-man would just move the hole in the roster and they'd wouldn't really be any better for it.
Part of the team's issue last season was that the forward group was not very good defensively as a whole and could not do basic coverage for the system the d-men were running. They lost their two of their best defensive forwards in Hossa and Kruger (obvs lower quality than Hoss) in one sweep and there is literally no one better defensively on the team now than Saad in terms of wings. |
