As you said, I dont see Hamilton being dealt but I also dont see Hanfin being dealt either. Makes more sense for Carolina to move Faulk than their young up and coming Dman. |

I think it's just because they could get a lot for Hanifin and he wants to hit it big on his next contract, which ownership won't like. |

I don't get the Dougie Hamilton trade rumors. He's got to be a giant wiener because he's already been traded once and he's been rumored to be available for like 2 years now from Calgary. He's clearly a very talented player but it does make you wonder what his deal is that he doesn't seem to fit in anywhere.
Similarly, I don't get why the Devils would trade for Galchenyuk at this stage. They already have Johansson Wood, Coleman on the left side behind Hall. And Jesper Bratt only played RW because they needed warm bodies on that side of the ice. That's not even mentioning Quenneville and, if he re-signs, Maroon.
Hanifin is an interesting one. I'm not a huge fan, and he certainly doesn't address the need for a #1 defenseman, but he's better than Mueller. Plus, let's be real, those are some gorgeous locks.
One move I'd be interested in is a potential Severson for Trouba deal. NJ would have to add something else to make it work, but clearly there was an issue in the past with Trouba in Winnipeg (reportedly it was an ice-time/positional issue, but who knows for sure) and Severson is a Saskatchewan boy.
Obviously the ideal move would be for OEL, but then Severson would almost definitely have to be a part of a bigger package, and that just doesn't make sense. You're patching a hole on one side of the ice and creating another, even bigger one on the right side. At least Greene and Butcher can probably be adequate on the left side. If you go Vatanen, Lovejoy, Santini down the right side you're going to get demolished. |

If the devs plan on improving the blue line I can't see them giving up a roster defenceman in a trade for another d man. Especially one locked in on a very good contract like severson. |

Honestly I hope Galchenyuk gets moved somewhere already.
Year after year he's one of Montreal's best offensive players, yet year after year the guy is talked as if he's useless. He has his faults, but put in a secondary role I could see him succeeding. |

Lets just overpay slightly, and get Carlson for max term at 7.5M. Please keep our 1st round selection. That 3 year entry level talent will be well worth overpaying Carlson by 750K. He is an excellent qb on the pp, and has a cannon when needed. He was clearly a better D man than Shattenkirk, Schmidt, and Orlov this season when he played with and against them. |
